Missional Leadership

Zozan came to Lebanon from Syria along with her family. She recently started attending Leadership program after getting to know the Lord Jesus as a personal savior. Zozan said, “My life was in darkness, and I was living as if in void before getting to know the love of the Lord”.

Zozan is so thankful for the leadership training lessons because they have had a very big impact on her life. She now knows the Lord on a more personal level, and she is learning about His characteristics. Because of the lessons, she also gained wisdom and knowledge of God’s Word.

She is now sure that her presence in Lebanon was not just due to bad circumstances, but the Lord has been working in her life all along the way and for that she is grateful.

Story

Family Outreach

Nour is a 22 years old Syrian refugee girl who has been in Lebanon since 2018. She lives with her mother and siblings after losing her father to death when she was a little girl, back in 2008.

Since that time, the meaning of childhood changed. Nour didn’t live a normal childhood, she didn’t get the chance to enjoy her many of her essential rights as a child. She lifted responsibilities much bigger than her years. She started working at a time when she should have been studying and playing.

Today, she works in a fish restaurant, standing on her feet for long hours. But she has nothing to show others but kindness: she wants to help her siblings, buy medicine for her mother, and keep their home from disappearing.

Through her work, she heard about H4L. She went to the center, hesitantly, and applied for help. She was registered and started receiving a monthly food portion and detergents. Her mother used to attend the Bible studies, but about a year ago, her mother got sick. Soon, Nour started attending bible studies.

With honesty, she said:
“The first time I came to the bible study because I was afraid the help would stop if my mom didn’t go. That’s why I started coming.”

Time passed, and something changed. When she sat down and talked with the team, she felt they were not strangers, they felt close.
“I felt like they understood me, they really listened… they were not just words.”

She learned that the help had no conditions. There was no pressure, no force.

Nour wears a hijab. She expressed receiving strange looks or quick judgments in other situations. But here, it was different. She said:
“no one said anything. No one looked at me in an uncomfortable way. I felt at ease… I felt there was real respect.”

She began attending bible studies especially those about the New Testament. Every story touched her in a special way.

But the story that touched her most was the story of the Samaritan woman.
“She was a woman, from a rejected background, and a sinner and yet Jesus talked to her, respected her, and saw her… truly saw her. That touched me, because I felt like, even with everything, I’m also seen. I’m not forgotten. I have value. I have dignity.“

The lessons didn’t just change her thoughts; they changed how she saw herself. She used to see herself as just a worker spending her days and nights working, but as a strong and brave young woman, full of light, struggling, continuing, and dreaming.

Now, she returns from each bible study not just with knowledge, but with a new strength. Noura believes that if He saw the Samaritan woman, He also saw Nour… from the very first moment.

Prayer Request:

Pray that grace continues to surround her every day, and that she grows more and more in knowing how much God sees her and loves her.

Maroun-1
Story

From Silence to Strength

Maroun is a 16-year-old Lebanese boy who lives with his family in Zahle, in the Bekaa Valley. He has five siblings. They all join the ‘Children at Risk’ programs except for their brother Michael who works as a barber and can’t join.

Maroun has been participating in these programs for about six years. He used to be very quiet and shy when he first joined the club. For a long time, he rarely talked and often relied on his brother to speak for him. But over the years, his personality started to change. He became more confident, started expressing his thoughts, and felt more comfortable sharing and communicating with others.

“When the staff first invited me, I thought the program was just for fun, a place to play and spend some time.  I never imagined it would be this impactful or thought we would dive so deep into the Bible” Maroun said

Through the programs, he has learned many good values and life lessons. He became more mature and aware.

“The lesson about gratitude really touched me. One sentence that stuck in my mind was: ‘God has given us so many good things, and the least we can do is thank Him.’ I used to forget to thank and praise God, but this lesson helped me see how many blessings He has given me, even the small ones. Now, I try to thank Him every day for at least one thing. I also liked the topic about making the right choices. It taught me not to be influenced by my friends or others, and not to follow their wrong actions. I need to make my own decisions, stay strong, and do what’s right.  Abraham, Joseph, Noah, and Daniel, all chose what was right, even when it was hard.” He added

Maroun didn’t just gain good principles; he also learned many verses, got to know Bible characters, and was impacted by each one, learning something from their lives. Most importantly, he met Jesus Christ and decided to follow Him.

“Before participating in the program, I didn’t have a deep understanding of the Bible. Although I am Christian, my knowledge was quite limited.  Now, I know how great, powerful, capable, and amazing Jesus is! He has the power to do miracles! He is a good shepherd; He protects us and cares for us. He knows everything about us, even the exact number of hairs on each of His children’s heads. ‘And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered’ Matthew 10:30

Jesus is everything to me. He gave us the gift of eternal life!  I’ve learned how important it is to have a real, daily relationship with Him and to rely on Him.

Through stories and discussions, I was really amazed by people who had real, strong faith in God. Like Moses, standing at the Red Sea with nowhere to go. He trusted God completely, and God made a way. Abraham trusted God even in hard times. He waited a long time for a son, and then was ready to give him back to God when he was asked. And Daniel remained faithful, even when he was thrown into the lions’ den. Their experiences motivate me to strengthen my faith and trust, despite the obstacles I face.” Maroun expressed happily

Maroun loves to help others meet Jesus and understand who He truly is.

He once shared: “My friend in class swears a lot and often uses bad words. I tried to explain to him that it’s wrong. He told me it’s just normal, but I told him it doesn’t please Jesus. Unfortunately, he didn’t really respond to what I said.”

He enjoys praising the Lord, and singing hymns brings him a sense of peace and closeness to God. He is eager to explore and dive deeper into the Bible.

“Even if we know the story or the chapter, when we read it again or hear it, we might see things from new perspectives.”

Maroun, along with his siblings had questions about the saints. The team explained to them that they should pray directly to God and don’t need a mediator. Maroun was surprised by this and started asking many questions, seeking clear answers. Despite everything, he still has some questions and misconceptions about the saints, because he grew up and was raised with these incorrect ideas.

Prayer Request:

Please keep Maroun in your prayers. Pray that God guides him, opens his heart to the truth, and helps him overcome any misconceptions he has. He’s struggling with a sin and is asking God to help him change. Pray that God gives him the strength to overcome this sin and live according to His will.

Hala’s Story

The Hammad family clung to one another as the war in Syria displaced them one time after another. They lived in a small home in a neighborhood torn apart by war, dreaming of a future that seemed further away with each passing day.

When the bombings grew louder and closer, Ahmad, the father, realized that staying was no longer an option. In the shadows of loss and desperation, with no safe path ahead, he and his children made the heart-wrenching decision to flee. Carrying only memories, they took the dangerous smuggler’s route toward Lebanon, leaving behind their home, their land, and everything familiar.

Their journey was filled with fear, hunger, and exhaustion. But for Ahmad, the thought of keeping his children alive, and giving them even a sliver of hope, was worth every hardship.

They eventually arrived in southern Lebanon, settling in a refugee camp filled with tents and weary faces, each one telling a story not unlike their own. Life there was far from easy. The family struggled through poor living conditions, constant relocation, and the absence of basic needs like water, electricity, and stability.

Ahmad did everything he could to create a sense of normalcy. He took on agricultural labor jobs, working long hours under the sun. His greatest determination was to ensure that his children received an education, believing deeply that schooling was the only key to a better future. And despite their difficult circumstances, the children were able to attend a local school.

Then, in the midst of their daily struggle, Heart for Lebanon stepped into their lives.

The relationship with Heart for Lebanon started after the team visited the family, studied their situation, and registered them to help them with monthly food portions and detergents distributions. Soon, the organization introduced programs specifically tailored to the children in the camp, combining education, recreation, and spiritual care. It was in these gatherings that little Hala, Ahmad’s daughter, once shy and withdrawn, began to quietly blossom.

At first, Hala kept to herself, her voice barely above a whisper. She found it hard to engage with others and often isolated herself. But something changed when she attended the children at Risk truck activities. The songs, the stories of Jesus, and the gentle, welcoming environment slowly began to reach her heart.

Day by day, Hala opened up. She started singing along softly, then retelling the Bible stories she heard, infusing them with her own imagination and heart. She repeated messages of love and forgiveness. Eventually, she began sharing more about her life and studies with the team, each word a step forward in self-confidence and healing.

It became clear to the team that Hala was more than just a participant, she was a gifted storyteller and a deeply thoughtful child. She began recording herself narrating stories and sharing them on YouTube, reaching children beyond the camp and spreading the same message of love that had transformed her.

She also had a habit of writing small, heartfelt messages to the team. Each note was filled with childlike wonder, like colorful drawings and innocent words, always ending with the same line in her handwriting: “I love you, Jesus.” This phrase, simple yet profound, captured everything she had come to believe.

Hala eagerly awaited each gathering. She loved the songs, cherished the stories of Jesus, and enjoyed repeating them. Meanwhile, her mother found peace and hope through regular Bible study sessions with the Heart for Lebanon’s Spiritual Formation team.

Touched by Hala’s transformation, the team decided to visit her family. They were welcomed into their humble tent with warm smiles. Hala sat beside them, her shy smile giving way to confidence as she spoke about her faith journey. She talked about how she came to love Jesus and how His stories brought light into her heart.

She shared how she now teaches her younger brother songs and stories, just like the ones she learned. The family joyfully told the team that Hala was excelling at school and had recently received a certificate of excellence.

Her mother told us she’s happy to see the care we provide and said the siblings now look out for one another, just like the team looks out for them.

During the visit, Hala also spoke about her spiritual growth. She said her favorite Bible story is Joseph’s, because it taught her about patience and faith. “I love Joseph because he taught us to be patient and faithful to God no matter the circumstances,” she said.

She added that her older sister helps her understand spiritual stories more deeply. She looks up to her as a guide and role model who encourages her to live out the lessons she’s learning.

Then Hala shared something that touched everyone present:
“Every time I pray, Jesus answers,” she said.
She spoke of how she feels God’s presence, especially when she prays sincerely, and how seeing her prayers answered gives her strength and assurance that she is not alone.

She looked at the team and said, “Jesus loves children. He helps us and stays with us… I love the team so much. I don’t want to be away from you, because you helped me know Jesus.”

The visit ended with deep emotions and heartfelt reflections. Her family expressed their deepest thanks, saying that Heart for Lebanon brought more than assistance, they brought light, healing, and hope for a better tomorrow.

Prayer Request:

Let’s pray that the Hammad family, especially young Hala, would continue to grow in faith, healing, and hope, and that Jesus would provide them with lasting stability, strength, and a future filled with His love and light.

Daham-1
Story

Children at Risk Activities

In the “Children at Risk” sports program, every participant, regardless of their age or background, has a unique story and a chance to make a difference.

Daham is 25 years old and has been through a lot in his life. He was born and raised in Syria, but when he was 15, his life changed completely because of the war.

“I lived through the war in Syria when I was 15 years old, and I still remember everything. Before the war, life was peaceful, safe, and full of happiness. I had dreams and ambitions and I used to enjoy many activities. I lived in Afrin, but at that time, I went to Aleppo to make my exams in school. Unfortunately, one day on our way to school, a shell hit the bus right in front of us, killing half of my classmates. That day, I lost many of my friends; the ones I learned with, talked with, and spent most of my time with. I saw the shell with my own eyes. I was shocked, and I was too young, I wasn’t ready for it. Because of the war and the things I saw and faced, I was traumatized. I lost my friends, my studies, my home, and my life. My country was destroyed, and so many people died. My dream was to become an engineer, and my grades were high at school. But sadly, I couldn’t achieve my dreams and my goals because of this situation.” Daham expressed sadly

After living awful days, Daham and his family fled Syria and came to Lebanon. Even though Daham was safe in Lebanon, but he suffered a lot. He felt constant fear and anxiety, which affected his eating and sleeping. He couldn’t sleep at night and was overwhelmed with sadness. He had deep depression. His family took him to a psychiatrist for help. He received treatment for two years and began taking Prozac. Slowly, he started to recover.

Daham loves sports, especially football. However, there was no team or space for him to play near his home. When his cousin Mostafa, who joined the “Children at Risk” youth sports program for ages 16 to 22, told him about it, Daham felt excited but also hesitant since he was 25, making him the oldest. Despite this, he found the courage to join. He was warmly welcomed and has been an active participant ever since.

“I really love the program. Playing sports helps me relax and let go of stress, fear, and sadness. I have a lot of fun playing football and have made new friends. It feels like we’re one big family. I really feel comfortable there and I always look forward to coming back each week.” Daham said.

Not only did he learn football skills, but he also grew spiritually and learned about Jesus.

“I learned to love, forgive, not to hold grudges, and to help others. Through Kurdish meetings, I got to know Christ, and my way of thinking changed. I began to learn more about Him and His miracles, like how He healed the blind and the paralyzed. I heard everything about Jesus at H4L; before, I didn’t know anything. I used to hear and understand things differently, but now I am discovering truths I never knew before.” He noted

Daham and his family live in a small tent in Bekaa, Lebanon, where they take care of a piece of land. His father, Nafee, has been dealing with pain and fever for a long time, but the doctors have not been able to figure out the cause. The medicine he’s been taking hasn’t improved his condition; it only acts as a painkiller. Daham’s mother suffers from disc problem, and the doctor advised her to avoid heavy lifting and to get as much rest as possible. His sister, Rofana, had to leave school because of their tough circumstances and the family’s poor financial situation. Daham used to work at a restaurant in Baalbek, but the difficult situation in Lebanon has affected his job because the area has become dangerous. When the war began in Lebanon, it brought back painful memories of what he went through during the war in Syria.

“I feel sad about the situation in Lebanon. We can't sleep because of the bombing. We hear sounds all the time, especially since the places being bombed are close to us. There’s no more safety here anymore. Both Syria and Lebanon have been destroyed, and that makes me sad. I’m afraid of going through the same trauma I experienced in Syria.  I am sad to see many kids suffering from hunger, homelessness and fear.

Our generation has been ruined. I always think about the future and wonder how our children will live. I hope the war ends soon and we can live in peace.” Daham shared

Ahmad-2
Story

Bible Clubs Program

We share many stories that highlight the changes and positive impacts in the lives of those around us. However, it’s important to note that these stories are not the only ones happening. There are many experiences that have a huge impact on people’s lives, but we sometimes don’t notice or discover them until people share them with us.

One example of this was shared recently when a woman named Warda told a story from two years ago that had deeply touched her and her family.

About two years ago, jackets were distributed to children through a help initiative. At that time, Warda’s financial situation was very difficult. Her family couldn’t afford even their basic needs, such as food, clothing, or heating. When her children received new jackets, it brought great joy to the whole family. The jackets kept them warm during the winter, and the children were happy to have something new after such a long time. Recently, during another hard moment, Warda remembered that time and shared the story with the team, feeling blessed and thankful. She recognized how God had cared for them in a simple but powerful way. He knew their needs even before they asked. It reminded her again that God is good and always provides in His own way.

Warda attends the Kurdish meetings every Wednesday. Listening to God’s Word brings her hope, comfort, and strength. Over time, she has learned a lot from the Bible and from the life of Jesus. One message that surprised her was Jesus’ command to love our enemies. At first, it was difficult for her to understand how anyone could love someone who hurt them, but the more she listened, the more it began to make sense.  “I learned a lot about Jesus, how He helped people, taught His disciples, and died for our sins,” Warda shared. “These teachings on love and forgiveness have touched my heart and helped me grow closer to Him.”

Warda believes in the power of prayer. Every time the team visits, she prays with them. Recently, she asked them to keep her in their prayers because she feels tired and overwhelmed by many challenges.

“My husband is not working at the moment. He’s looking for a job, but things are hard. Our living situation is difficult, and we’re lacking many basic items at home. For example, we don’t have gas to cook, so I have to go outside and use firewood.

I’m exhausted by all the responsibilities and pressure. I spend all my time working in the tent and feel like I’m stuck in the same place. I want a better life for my children and myself. I wish I could move forward and do something new.” Warda expressed her feelings

The team prayed for her and encouraged her with a bible message. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

As a mother of four, Warda hopes her children will have a good life, a bright future, and grow up walking the right path.  Ahmad, Mohammad, and Amira attend the ‘Children at Risk’ programs. They heard about the programs from their relatives and were excited to join. So, Warda asked the team to register them.

Ahmad is always excited when it’s time for Bible stories. He listens attentively, remembers every detail, never forgets the verses, and asks questions because he wants to learn more. He believes in Jesus as his savior and always praises him. He’s always the first to pray, never hesitates, and often encourages his friends to do the same

” Jesus is the only one who lived without sin and died on the cross to save us from our sins. His love is great.”  He spoke

He said the topic about complaining really helped him realize that complaining shows a lack of gratitude and that we often forget to thank God for all the good things He’s already given us.

“God meets our needs in unexpected ways and always takes care of us. That’s why we should praise and thank Him every day,” Ahmad said. “He never leaves us, and He often gives us even more than we need, just like in the story where Jesus fed thousands with only five loaves and two fish.”

As Ahmad listened more to Bible stories, his understanding of God’s love and faith grew.

Each story teaches him something new about God’s character and how to live with faith.

Moses story for example, affirms that God loves us and does everything for our sake.

“God freed His people from Pharaoh. Everything happened was by God’s power, not Moses’ strength.”

Ahmad learned the importance of trusting Jesus in every situation.

‘When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.’ Psalm 56: 3

Ahmad learned a valuable lesson about fear and trust from the story of Jesus calming the storm.

“No matter what challenges we face, we should trust and rely on God, He will keep us safe and calm our anxieties, just like He did for the disciples in the storm.” He noted

Ibrahim2
Story

Children at Risk – Truck Program

Ibrahim’s family was compelled to leave their homeland due to war, leaving behind everything familiar and cherished. This decision was not a matter of choice but a necessity dictated by harsh circumstances. With no alternative, they undertook an illegal journey from Syria to Lebanon in search of safety for themselves and their children. The initial transition was challenging for a family in urgent need of income, with most members working to sustain their livelihood.

Their circumstances took a positive turn when they were introduced to Heart for Lebanon, an organization that provided them with spiritual guidance, educational lessons, and a monthly food portion. Additionally, their children benefited from fun educational programs, including Bible stories, kids’ clubs, and spiritual worship sessions.

Ibrahim, a well-mannered, gentle, and intelligent nine-year-old, actively participates in Heart for Lebanon’s Children at Risk activities, including truck programs. When he first joined, he was a withdrawn and introverted child who seldom engaged with his surroundings. His innocence was evident, and the team quickly recognized his unique qualities through his actions and attitude. Over time, he became increasingly engaged, sharing Bible stories with other children, participating in group activities, singing worship songs, and attentively absorbing lessons. His respectful nature, discipline, and kindness to other were remarkable.

Recognizing the profound transformation in him, the team arranged a home visit to inquire about his spiritual journey. During their conversation, Ibrahim shared, “I used to struggle to express myself because of my shyness. Before meeting you, I often felt isolated and uninspired. The team encouraged me to be courageous and to find my voice.”

The team observed that Ibrahim discovered joy in life’s simplest moments. He formed friendships, developed a love for social interactions, and became more confident in expressing himself. Despite his young age, Ibrahim possesses a compassionate heart and a remarkable sense of maturity. He selflessly extends kindness even to strangers. In a heartfelt discussion, he shared, “Jesus is everything to me. I pray to Him every day, asking that I may continue attending the activities (Kids Club) without interruption… When the recent war began, I was deeply saddened, but prayer brought me comfort and peace. Whenever I feel troubled or overwhelmed, I turn to prayer. I always pray for the poor and those in need.

Listening to hymns brings me comfort and serenity, especially the hymn ‘Jesus Is Like Sugar.’

I love reading the Bible, and I had asked the team for one. It was a wonderful surprise when they gifted it to me. My favorite Bible story is the story of Joseph, it is one of the most inspiring… It teaches us that God has a purpose for our lives.“

During the visit, Ibrahim concluded with heartfelt words: “I love the team very much. Their kindness, warm treatment, and the happiness they bring mean so much to me.”

The team also spoke with Ibrahim’s family, and his mother shared moving reflections about her son’s transformation. She expressed how he had become more self-aware and confident. The family noticed significant improvements in his behavior and emotional well-being. He had become more considerate, compassionate, and empathetic toward others. They were proud of the growth he exhibited, both spiritually and emotionally, and were deeply grateful for the positive changes in his life, which brought immense joy to the entire family.

In closing, the family expressed their profound gratitude: “We thank and appreciate Heart for Lebanon for the invaluable support provided during our time of greatest need… Your assistance, filled with love and care, has been a true blessing. We are especially grateful for the spiritual and educational programs that have profoundly impacted our children’s hearts, particularly Ibrahim’s… He has become more peaceful and joyful. This support has also strengthened our faith… it reminded us that God always sends the right people to help us during difficult times.”

The team’s visit to Ibrahim and his family was marked by warmth, appreciation, and respect. The family’s gratitude was evident in every interaction.

We ask for continued blessings on Ibrahim’s family as they navigate their journey. May Ibrahim continue to grow in faith, kindness, and compassion, and may his story inspire others who face similar struggles.Grant peace to those affected by war, comfort to the poor, and strength to all who are in need.

Story

Strength in Prayer

Khalaf and his family fled to Lebanon because of the war and poor living conditions in Syria. Their home was completely destroyed, and they lost many relatives. Seeking peace and safety, they arrived in Lebanon, but life remains challenging. They now live in a small tent and they struggle to meet their basic needs like food, fuel, and other daily essentials. Khalaf works as an accountant in a vegetable market, while his wife, Amina, sometimes works in agriculture to help with expenses. Despite their efforts, their financial situation remains very hard. During one visit, Amina shared, “We wish to travel to another country and build a better life.”

Khalaf and Amina have eight children. Their 27-year-old daughter has special needs and struggles with growth and speech difficulties. Amina suffers from asthma, which makes it hard for her to breathe. Despite these challenges, Khalaf and his family find comfort in prayer, trusting that God will help them. Khalaf attends Bible study meetings, and his daughters, Sarah and Mariam, participate in the “Children at Risk” programs. These meetings have helped them grow spiritually and understand the gospel more.

“I didn’t know anything about God before, but everything changed when I started attending meetings and reading the Bible. I used to have so many questions, but through discussions and study, I’ve found answers. Before, I had no idea how God created the world, but after reading Genesis in the Old Testament, things became clear to me. I always share what I learn with my wife and daughters, and they also share with me the stories they learn in the children’s program. I am happy because I’ve learned how to pray. Prayer brings me peace and comfort. In Bible studies, we pray for each other and support one another.” Khalaf said.

Mariam and Sarah, Khalaf’s daughters, love to attend the club, sports and club programs. They’ve even invited many of their friends to join. At the club, they always share their thoughts, pray, and sing to the Lord with joy. Through the programs, they have learned about Jesus and gained many values and positive habits.

Mariam, a nine- year-old girl, is affectionate, spontaneous and loving. She has a smiling face and a sense of humor. She loves to help others; she’s kind and gentle. She enjoys doing crafts and loves making bracelets from beads.

“I always enjoy the program. I love hearing stories about the Lord and getting to know Him more, and I love singing hymns. I feel happy when I gather with my friends and we play together. Through the programs, I’ve learned about love and the importance of not leaving anyone alone (sitting by themselves), but to go and play with them. I’ve learned the importance of honesty.

I also learned through a play that time is important, and not to waste it, not to spend time on meaningless things, like playing all the time and neglecting responsibilities. I learned that I shouldn’t postpone things; I need to do everything on time because once time passes, we can’t get it back.

I’ve also learned a lot about Jesus. He is the only Savior; He was crucified for us to take our sins. I learned to pray, thank God, and ask for forgiveness.” Mariam shared happily

Please lift up Mariam and her family in your prayers. Pray for God’s strength as they face many challenges. Pray for healing, comfort and hope for their future.

Learning and Growing

Sarah is 11 years old. She participates in all the Children at Risk programs; she is an active member and she always joins with excitement. Sarah is kind¸ caring and friendly. She loves helping people around her and shows kindness in everything she does. Sarah listens carefully to the advice she receives because she wants to be a better person. She works hard to behave well and tries her best not to make mistakes. She has a good heart and a strong desire to grow. Over time, Sarah has learned many Biblical stories and has become familiar with them. She believes that trusting in God is the best way to succeed in life.

She shared, “Through the story of David and Goliath, I learned that trusting in God helps us overcome any challenge, no matter how difficult it is. David defeated Goliath because of his strong faith. I believe that faith in God leads to victory.” Sarah also believes that success comes from working together and supporting one another. She said, “I learned a verse from Corinthians that says, ‘Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.’ (1 Corinthians 12:14) I understood that working with others can lead to big achievements, just like the body needs all its parts to work together.”

This helped her value relationships and cooperation with others even more.

Sarah loves attending the programs. She feels happy, comfortable, and relaxed there. She says the center feels like her second home. She enjoys spending time there with her friends.

“Your love and care for us really touched me,” Sarah shared. “The way you treat us with kindness makes me so happy. You care and help us with everything. It feels different from how anyone else treats us.”

Sarah never stops learning. She feels happy every time she hears stories about God’s love. One story that touched her heart is about the woman who wiped Jesus’ feet.

“I remember the story about the woman who poured perfume on Jesus’ feet,” she said. “The disciples complained, but Jesus thanked her. I learned from this story that I should always be thankful and give thanks to God in all situations.”

Sarah tries to apply everything she learns to her life. One day during the program, Sarah came to the team and said,

“I remember we once learned a verse about fear, but I forgot it. I want to write it on paper so I can pray and say it when I feel afraid. I’m very scared of war, of bombs, and of dying.”

Sarah is learning to overcome her fears by praying and thinking about God’s words. She finds comfort in prayer and the Bible, but she still asks for help and support.

Over time, Sarah’s actions have changed for the better. She is now able to forgive others, even though it was hard for her before. She realized that forgiveness brings peace to her own heart.

“My actions and my life have changed,” she said. “I remember a story I heard a long time ago in the club. I learned from it that we should love everyone even our enemies. Jesus tells us to love our enemies and not to treat others in an evil way like they did.”

Although Sarah still struggles with some bad habits, she is trying her best to walk in God’s way.  She shared honestly, “I am facing a sin that I can’t get rid of. I swear a lot, and I know that this is wrong. I heard that I should speak without swearing, but I can’t do so because I’m used to it.”

Sarah knows that swearing isn’t a good habit, and she is trying to stop. She has asked for prayer and support.

Please lift Sarah in your prayers. Pray that God will give her strength to overcome her struggles. Pray that she will continue to grow in her faith, and experience God’s love in deeper ways.

Mayada-2
Story

Bible Study

Mayada Mohammed Al-Ali was born in Syria into a family of four brothers and one sister. Mayada is the eldest daughter in her family. Her father worked in a government facility producing animal feed, while her mother stayed at home, focusing on caring for the family. Their financial situation was stable enough to cover their daily expenses.

Mayada could not complete her education because her mother passed away when she was only ten years old. As the eldest, she had to leave school to help with household chores and take care of her younger siblings. Mayada found no rest until her father remarried, and her stepmother assumed the responsibility of caring for the family—responsibilities that Mayada had carried despite being so young herself.

After enduring the painful years following her mother’s death, Mayada married at the age of twenty and gave birth to two daughters, Ruqayya and Rahaf. However, her husband proved to be irresponsible and unfaithful. Despite his constant betrayal, Mayada stayed with him until he left the family to live with his new wife.

Forced to take charge of her life, Mayada began working on agricultural land to support her daughters after her husband abandoned his responsibilities. During the war in Syria, she fled with her children to Lebanon, settling in a tent in the Beqaa region of Tamnin. There, she continued working on farmland alongside her daughters to meet their needs. In 2015, her daughter Ruqayya got married, leaving Mayada with Rahaf.

In 2019, Mayada suffered from severe diabetes and hypertension, which forced her to stop working on the land. Rahaf then became the sole provider for both herself and her mother.

Mayada learned about the “Heart for Lebanon” organization through her neighbors, who encouraged her to attend a Bible study meeting. They spoke to her about the Christian teachings filled with love, which stirred a deep desire in Mayada to understand a faith that respects women and opposes polygamy. She was also deeply pained by the insults and curses she often heard from her grandmother, who claimed to be a devout Muslim. These experiences caused Mayada to feel repelled by the teachings of the Quran.

Through Heart for Lebanon, Mayada experienced the love of Christ, especially when she heard one woman in the meeting share her testimony of transitioning from Islam to Christianity, explaining how the teachings of Christ touched her heart. This encouraged Mayada to learn more about Christianity. When the visitation team from the organization came to her tent, they showed compassion for her circumstances and registered her to receive monthly food aid.

Today, Mayada lives in a state of peace with the Lord, having encountered the teachings of Christ. She said, “I thank the organization and everyone serving in this ministry for their efforts to bring those far from the Lord closer to Him.”

Please pray with us for Mayada, that the Lord will strengthen her in His presence and grant her a life filled with peace and reassurance.
